Road Construction and Getting to/from SKSC
The 2010 road construction season is now upon us. The road through Dorr (142nd) currently only only carries West-bound traffic. The East-bound detour is marked, but for those of you who are not familiar with area, we posted a construction map with routes to help you get back to US-131. North-bound US-131 should use 100th St, and South-bound can use 135th. Click on the construction icon below to view (or right-click to download) a detailed map.
New Ranges, Sharing and Closings:
There will be less range closings now at SKSC because 10 new pistol bays were built behind the existing pistol bays. These new pistol bays are for use only during USPSA, IDPA, and other organization’s scheduled events. SKSC shows our support for our area police and sheriffs departments who will also use these ranges during the year. While the new bays will not be available to members, they will allow members to continue to shoot in the regular bays even during scheduled events. Some special events may still require that ranges, such as the 200-meter, be shared rather than closed. Check the club calendar for ranges that are closed, or shared.
CPL Classes at SKSC:
Terry Thompson hosts our Concealed Pistol Classes at SKSC. Costs are $75 for members and $125 for non-members. There is a $25 non-refundable deposit to sign up for a class. Planned 2010 dates are: June 5th, July 10th, September 18th, October 16th and November 6th. Contact Terry at 616-891-4118, 616-293-8245, or via email at ccwtraining@AOL.com.
Hunter Safety Classes at SKSC:
SKSC hosts the area's best DNR Hunter Safety Class. For more information or to sign up, please call Jim Jamieson at home: 616-281-0287 or Lynn Siebers at home: 616-457-1723. Jim and his loyal staff volunteer their time and efforts to bring this safety class to the public, so thank them when you see them. This is a great class for everyone over the age of 10 to learn about general firearms safety, even if you are not a hunter. The class is free, but donations to cover course and training materials are gladly accepted. Bring a sack lunch on Saturday. The next 2-day classes are planned for August 18th & 21st and September 8th & 11th.
