SKSC News

January / February 2012

MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS: Membership meetings are the 2nd Monday of the month.  The next meetings will be Monday, January 9th, February 13th and March 12th at 8:00 p.m. in the club house.

ANNUAL ELECTIONS & MEMBERSHIP MEETING:  The annual elections were held at the December membership meeting.  Dave Smith ran unopposed and was re-elected as the membership secretary.  Floyd (Randy) Lober, Wayne Moore, Dave Pleyel, and Mark Walma were also re-elected as board members.  There was a good turnout for the meeting.  The board wants to thank all those who ran and those who have served for the past year(s).  The annual $100 attendance drawings were won by Ralph Hammond and Rich Corey.  The wild life print was won by Dave Pleyel.  50/50 drawings were won by Lynn Siebers and Scott Barnes.  There were lots of great door prizes as well.  It certainly pays to attend the December meeting!  It also helps to be at more than one monthly membership meeting.  Will we see you there?

SKSC WINTER LEAGUE:  Come join the fun for 2012.  Sign up with the manager for this years’ trap and skeet league.  Costs this year will be the same as last year and are: $15 for the first event and $10 for each additional event.  The fees for juniors (less than 21) are $10 for the first event and $5 for each additional event.  Each shooter is allowed to purchase one 10 round shooting card at members prices for each event they sign up for.  There will be 16 yard trap, conventional skeet, and depending on the number who sign up, pee-wee (410) skeet, wobble skeet and trap, and doubles trap.  Each event will be 250 targets (10 lines).  Shooters will be classified at the end of their first 4 lines.  The first 4 lines must be shot by January 31st.  There must be at least 5 shooters in a class to win an award.  You may shoot your lines at any time the club is open but no more than three lines per event per day.  The league ends March 29th and will be followed by a banquet in April.

RENEW MEMBERSHIPS NOW:  Please remember to renew your membership for 2012.  You may renew in person at the club house during normal trap and skeet hours on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.  Dues are $60, plus a $40 land fee, plus a $40 work fee, making a total of $140.  Seniors 62 and over may waive the $40 work fee.  You may also renew by mail.  You need to send a Self Addressed, Stamped Envelope, proof of work credit hours, and a check (made out to SKSC) for the correct amount, to:

DAVE SMITH TAKES 2011 TOP GUN EVENT:  Dave Smith took top gun honors and the $50 prize with a score of 352.52.  Not that far behind was Steve Pratt who finished 2nd with a score of 323.  Congratulations to you both.  Top Gun will return again in 2012 with some changes to help shooters enter and compete for the honor and prize.  We’ll announce the rules in the next news letter in time for the April start.

COMING EVENTS: Returning in 2012 will be the TOP GUN event.  More information will be in the next news letter.  STEEL CHALLENGE continues and will be conducted the 1st Saturday from April through October.  New this year will be NRA HIGH POWER and CMP VINTAGE GARAND RIFLE matches.  High power will hold traditional position rifle matches in April, May, July, and September.  The two Vintage Garand Rifle matches will be held in June and October.  Starting in March, USPSA and IDPA begin their shooting seasons.  IHMSA begins in April, while NRA High Power and Small Bore silhouette, along with CMP rifle matches begin in May.  Check the calendar on the back or the banner at the bottom of the news letter for times and dates.  The web pages have more detailed information and links to each event.
