General Safety Rules:
We just want to ask each of you to help keep the place neat tidy and safe.
The first thing to remember is that a range isn't full just because one
individual is shooting there. Share the ranges and share some friendly
help too. Helping to spot a target or coach someone might just make them a
better shot, and you too.
 |
On the low bunkers on the 500 meter and the North
end of the South range, you may only fire .22 caliber rimfire ammunition.
No
big bore anything, especially pistols. Don't place any target stands in any
manner which will have the bullets which pass through them strike any of the
target stands, rails, or standing silhouette targets.
 |
Do not use armor piercing nor incendiary (tracers)
types of ammunition on any range. This is to protect the back stops and
prevent fires.
 |
Never handle any firearm on the line while there is
someone down range.
 |
Keep all muzzles below the top of the berms.
 |
Place all targets at the base of the berm. Your
target may not be farther than one meter (3 feet) in front of the berm and
the target must be below the top half of the bunker. This is true even if
there is another bunker down range behind the one you are shooting on.
 |
Always wear adequate eye and hearing protection.
 |
Be respectful and courteous to your fellow
shooters. Let them know what you are doing. Make your firing strings
no longer than 20 minutes to allow new targets to be placed and shooter
rotation of the firing line.
 |
Remember to keep your targets below the center line
of the backstop. This is very important on short bunkers where bullets can
ricochet and there is the possibility of them leaving the range they were
fired on. Never shoot at flat horizontal surfaces for the same reason.
Safe
shooting __ We all must do it. |

Above all else, think and act safely. Every time,
all the time.
Club Orientation and Safety Classes:
Orientation/Safety Class will be offered
on Tuesday and Sunday only...See manager during Trap & Skeet hours in the
Clubhouse. We welcome all comments on the content or quality of the course.
Please feel free to give your comments to the instructors or any board member.
The certificates of completion stay on record with the secretary. These classes
are necessary to comply with insurance, NRA guidelines, and state rules. EVERY
club member and new applicant must attend the class ONCE.
The reason EVERY club member and new applicant needs to go through the class
ONCE, is to satisfy the rules so that we can maintain an unsupervised open
shooting range policy. Every person who shoots on any of the club ranges needs
to understand the safety zones next to and beyond our ranges, safe gun handling
rules, and range etiquette. What these classes do is to make each one of you a
Range Officer when there isn't a club official present or a designated match
directory to act as the Range Officer. If you don't understand any part of the
rules, please ask the instructor during the class or talk with one of the board
members. Listen to and follow the rules please.
